Fietstocht / Biketour Istanbul - Eskişehir - Konya

Sufi Trail is a pilgrimage route from Istanbul to Konya. Initially developed as a hiking route and thereafter for bike packers and tour cyclists. Bike packers mainly follow the hiking trails and dirt roads whereas tour cyclist will avoid the muddy path and mountainous areas. This guidebook is for the tour cyclist. We start our pilgrimage at the tomb of Eyüp Sultan in Istanbul and follow the bright spots of the Sufi saints all the way to Mevlana Rumi. On our way to Konya, we feel the spiritual guidance of Sheikh Ebül Vefa, Nureddin Jerrahi, Cafer-i Ansari, Ali Baba, Mutlu Baba, Sheikh Muhammed Medeni, Sheikh Edebali, Sücaeddin Veli, Seyyid Battal Gazi, Emir Dede, Abdulkadir Geylani Sani, Ecem Sultan, Nasreddin Hodja, Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani, Yağlı Dede, Hacı Haydar Sultan, Sadreddin Konevi, Shams-i Tabrizi and Mevlana Rumi.

The Sufi on Bike route is mainly along the old routes to Mecca and this spirit is intertwined into the people of Anatolia. The people of Turkey have always offered great hospitality to first-time visitors, not knowing where they come from or how long they will stay. Hospitality and offering the best
of what they have is still the main characteristic
of the people of the land. Building on the great hospitality and kindness of the Turkish people, and on the same routes that people have been using for thousands of years, new cycling and hiking routes have been emerging in Turkey.
